Looks like the Big Island took one for the team, taking a direct hot from Iselle, breaking the storm apart so that the other islands were spared. Here’s the next storm , Julio, that the current cone of uncertainty shows missing all islands to the north. Well, I’ve got a case of water for next year at least.
Well, at least Safeway had access to more water today. There were 5 pallets left by the front door this afternoon, with more in the regular shelves, so I would guess they got 8 or more pallets from one of the local suppliers today.
Update: My dad said Wednesday is the day the barge comes in, so it was probably a matter of a last minute order from another island being thrown on the barge for Safeway
Well, it looks like our flight home from Maui should be fine between two hurricanes, but I grabbed water just in case. Safeway was already out yesterday when I went, but I got these at Longs. I almost took a picture of the empty shelves, but didn’t. All the little coolers at the checkouts were also empty of water. Lady at Longs said one if the two other supermarkets on this side of the island was also out. Tutu was at Costco yesterday morning and said each cart had at least 2 cases of water as well. Crazy, someone said that because this storm started with an”I” people were wigging out a bit.
